Lions Bring the "We Serve" Motto to the Phillipines
Lions from the Kansas City World Outreach Lions Club and the Liberty Lions Club traveled to Guiuan, a city in the Eastern Samar province of the Phillipines, in October for their annual medical mission trip in conjunction with the Medical Missions Foundation of Kansas City.
During the seven day mission, a wide variety of medical supplies and procedures were distributed amongst the Phillipine patients. The Lions and their mobile medical clinics helped to perform minor surgical procedures and vision testing, as well as distribute eyeglasses and small toys to the children. ;a few days ago, the holiday season is now already upon us. As we all prepare for the busy upcoming months, the Heartland Lions Eye Banks would like to share an opportunity to help those in need this holiday season.
The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services has launched a "12 Weeks of Giving Campaign," where everyone is encouraged to sign up for their state's donor registry. It is the Department's goal to sign up 400,000 new donors between November 2 and January 25, 2008.
